The measurement and installation went very smoothly and ahead of schedule. Avery and his crew were super fast and friendly. They got all of the windows installed in one day even though they’d thought it would take more than one day. They hauled off the old windows and it looked like no one had been here, but my house looked so much better! One window was supposed to have a film on it because it is in a shower and it came clear. As soon as the problem was discovered, they ordered a new piece of glass and will install it in about a week. They were able to put the new window in so all we have to do is change out the glass. I was very pleased that they were ready to fix this problem right away. I’d highly recommend Masterpiece Windows!

Masterpiece Windows is a boutique operation. If that suits your needs and inclinations, I recommend it without reservation.

‘Boutique’ doesn’t imply that Masterpiece only handles small jobs, because clearly they’re able to take on large and complex projects, including unusual configurations. And it doesn’t mean you’ll pay more: Prices are definitely competitive within the market, and the quality of service and workmanship exceeds what you’ll see from larger contractors. But like any good boutique, it focuses on customer service, and on quality over quantity.

Masterpiece carries Simonton windows, in the 5050 and 5500 model lines, with some preconfigured upgrades. You can save a little money on the 5050s, but I judge the 5500s to be a significant step up in quality, and aesthetically more pleasing. George Sullivan, Masterpiece’s main man, has done a good job of selecting a configuration that fits the local climate. If you’d like to comb through a long list of window lines and individualized features, maybe look elsewhere. For most people, the simplicity of choosing windows with Masterpiece is a bonus.

(George is also a heck of a salesman, and a really entertaining guy to talk to. Even if you don’t buy, you’ll enjoy his pitch, and the conversation in general.)

The main limitation in working with Masterpiece is scheduling installation. George depends on his installer Avery, who only schedules jobs on weekends. Depending on your project, you may have to wait a few weeks for installation, although you’ll have your date well in advance. In our case, Avery showed up at the crack of 8:30 on a Sunday morning, along with his brothers Bob and Tiny, and completed the installation around 2:30 that afternoon. Workmanship, retrimming the windows, and cleanup were all top-notch.

Over 20 years, we’ve replaced windows on several occasions in two different houses, and this project was the most trouble-free I’ve seen.
Description of work:
Replaced four double-hung windows, and one three-pane picture window with two sliding panes and a center fixed pane. All windows that were replaced had exterior aluminum wrapping, which was removed and then replaced with new material after window installation.

His measurements of my window were “spot-on”. Watching him slide the window in place was like watching Prince Charming slide the glass slipper on Cinderella’s foot – a PERFECT fit! I wanted to write a quick update about the windows we recently replaced with Masterpiece Windows. Just two weeks after signing the contract with them, we now have several new windows installed and ready to go! George, the owner and salesman, came out and showed us the Simonton windows that he offers. He was very professional and took great care to be punctual. During his presentation, he took time to answer all of our questions, and ultimately worked with us to purchase through a special that was running on Angie’s list to help increase our savings. He gave us suggestions on ways we could lower the cost without compromising on the finished product (for example, only putting grids on the windows that face the front of the house). He explained exactly when we could expect the windows to be ordered, and let us know right up front that he would call to schedule the installation once the windows had been manufactured and delivered.

Fast forward 10 days. George called to schedule the installation, and his installer, Avery, just so happened to have an opening the following weekend at 8am. Avery called me that morning, and asked if it would be ok if they were a little later. That was the weekend we’d had a significant amount of ice and snow and some of his crew were coming a little further in the weather. He offered to send a member of his crew out ahead of the others if I had somewhere to be. The total delay was merely 30 minutes, and given the weather, that was impressive in an of itself.

Avery and crew were very professional and considerate. They laid down tarps to protect our floors from the ice and snow, removed pictures hanging on the walls to avoid accidentally bumping them, moved furniture out of the way, and removed blinds and window treatments. One of the other things that impressed me was that given how cold it was that day, they were kind enough to only work on one or two windows at a time, so as not to have my heater running unnecessarily. When they were finished, Avery walked me through how to operate the new window features, made sure all of the furniture that they’d moved was placed back where it belonged, and all window treatments and blinds were installed and operational. He and his crew vacuumed their way out of my house, making sure that anywhere they were was cleaned and ready to go when they left.

We are very pleased with the windows, George, and Avery, and would gladly recommend them to friends & neighbors.

George Sullivan came within a day or two of my first contacting his company, and he gave a killer presentation. I learned more about windows than I ever thought I wanted to know. And he made it interesting. His product is clearly a superior one, the price was fair and I placed my order right then and there. A few days later, George called to explain that the casement window I originally ordered might not be ideal. He explained the difference, including that the change would save me about $100. Excellent. About two weeks later, the windows were delivered, and the next day they were installed by Avery and a helper. Clearly they have done this more than once. The work was fast, professional and friendly.

I could not be happier with the service or the windows. The first thing I noticed is that the house is a little quieter. The house is on a corner, and the noise is quite a bit less. These windows are also energy efficient. I’m already seeing a difference with the cycling on and off of my AC. I expect good things with my next bill.
I will absolutely recommend George Sullivan and his company to other people.

The windows he sold were on Consumer Reports as a Best Buy so we were confident in the brand of windows. When George came to do the contract the carpenter measured all our windows independently. Our sidelight window had a crop of mushrooms growing on the bottom of it, which were getting larger with every rain storm. Plus, the bottom of the door had never been properly sealed by the builder. After a pretty sizable home renovation, we wanted to try a business other than a big box store to replace the front door and two sidelight windows.
George was certain he could beat the other estimates cost-wise, which he definitely did by about 20%. We were also delighted to not have to deal with a four-hour window for the measurements and installation. George was understanding about our scheduling issues and arrived promptly when we did settle on a time.

George is pleasant to work with, and his workers were quiet, clean and efficient. They didn’t leave a mess for me to clean, which I really appreciate. The only downside was that George didn’t have a photo of the door I was getting. I believe this is because my order was very standard issue. But it turned out fine. The door and windows were steel and fiberglass, a better choice than the builder’s original wood window frames for the wet, rainy climate here. The front door and side light windows from Masterpiece are sturdy, waterproof, properly sealed and mushroom-free! It was a pleasure working with George and his installers. I would definitely recommend them.

We did our research and knew we wanted Simonton replacement windows for our home. Got an estimate a big box retailer and then decided to try to find someone else who sold and installed Simonton locally for another quote. Found Masterpiece Windows on Angie’s List and George responded immediately and met us within a few days. We were very familiar with Simonton, but George had even more information to share with this. Not only did we get a savings of about 40% from the big box guys, we felt much more confident with George’s ability to handle all the custom sized windows we were replacing and his overall installation team who were prepared to handle any problems they may incur with rotten wood on our exterior sills (no surprises here, the window sills and frame were fine).

George had a portfolio of photos with similar trapezoid, pentagon, casement, and slider windows he had installed and that helped us understand what replacement windows would look like in our home. We had planned to replace 3 double hung windows with the same, but George suggested casement and fixed windows on the back of our home to maximize our beautiful views. We had not thought of this and we could not have been happier once they were installed.
The main reason we were replacing windows was to try to reduce the amount of heat coming through our older windows that faced west and got afternoon sun all day. What a difference new windows made! You can’t feel any heat standing in front of the windows with full afternoon summer sun! The odd shaped trapezoid and pentagon windows are 6 feet tall and fit perfectly. Avery and his team were efficient, professional, and left our home as clean as when they arrived. There were NO surprises! George and his team did exactly what they promised and we will use them again for the windows on the rest of our home when we are ready to replace.

Our experience with George Sullivan (the sales representative) and Avery (the installer) and his crew was excellent: the lowest price, excellent products, beautiful installation in a difficult house, and quick completion. Less than three weeks after we signed the contract, the project was complete. The actual installation took only two days. We met with four replacement window companies: Window World, Aluminum Company of NC, My Guys Remodeling, and Masterpiece. We received price proposals from each. Masterpiece’s price proposal was $1,200 below Window World and at least $4,000 below the other two companies. And they furnished a superior window.

I am an architect, practicing for almost 30 years, and I have learned a lot about windows. And I am very picky. Masterpiece represents Simonton Windows, that are manufactured in Virginia; a great product. And as I noted above, the craftsmanship of the installers was excellent. Three of the four men were older than I am; real craftsman, and they were picky too. I did not need to worry about cutting corners or expeditious solutions. They did it right.

It’s just nice to be able to write a glowing review about a job well done. I deal with design and construction every day, and these guys are special.

I reviewed many window companies and in the end met with two replacement window companies: Champion and Masterpiece. We received price proposals from each. Masterpiece’s price proposal was $1,200 below both have a superior window. George did a spectacular job presenting the windows features, helping me with comparative analysis and was very forth coming with even the pros of his competitors products. I felt genuine interest in us as a customer and did not feel pressured in any way. In the end both companies presented well and both offer superior products and I had to chose someone to move forward with but I am totally satisfied with Masterpiece.
I am particularly picky and was very happy with my choice although I suspect Champion would have met my expectations too. Masterpiece represents Simonton Windows, that are manufactured in Virginia; a great product. Craftsmanship of the product is excellent. The installation team was superb 3 of the 4 man team are older gentlemen, experienced craftsman, and very thorough. I did not need to worry about cutting corners or expeditious solutions. They did it right!
A job well done! I deal with sales teams and contactors on a regular basis, and these guys are the dream team.
One last note and the reason for the delay in processing my feedback. I finally received a clean months bill for electricity and could see a 15% or better improvement in electricity consumption. This was fairly represented by George and a validation of him and his companies credibility.

It was a terrific experience, start to finish. George is a true professional in every sense of the word. He is thorough, punctual, and customer focused. The entire process is very transparent and things happened exactly as he described. His installers are equally thorough and professional. The materials arrived on schedule, the installation crew arrived on the date and time they said they would and the install proceeded exactly according to plan. I get the impression that Avery, the lead installer, is a master craftsman. He oversees the quality of the installation closely and he made a few decisions on our job (without me having to ask) that resulted in a beautiful finished result! The did an excellent job cleaning up and putting everything back exactly as it was when they arrived. This is not a group of cheap laborers that might change all the time. Rather this is a well-seasoned group that works well together! Masterpiece uses Simonton windows. I did my research and can tell you that you can find cheaper windows…and more expensive ones too. But the total combination of window quality (great warranty too) and great install experience, Masterpiece was hands down, the right choice! Highly recommend!

Our old windows were very drafty and many wouldn’t open any longer. We consulted with three window replacement companies for estimates. Masterpiece Windows’ quote was in the middle. One company was very pushy and wanted me to sign right then and there. George from Masterpiece was not pushy at all. He came to the house with a demo window and showed us how it was very energy efficient. He was very professional and emailed me a detailed quote the next day. He broke down all the pricing so I could see exactly what I was getting. The windows came in very quickly only 2 weeks. I did have to pay 50% ahead of time which most companies don’t require. A crew of 6 came on a Saturday and Sunday. They finished on Monday with two men. All the windows look great and operate smoothly. The brand is Simonton reflections 5500, which seem to be good windows according to some web searches I did. I think the most important thing is the installation. If any window isn’t installed right you will have problems with them. We had a huge wind and rain storm after the installation and I didn’t see any leaks and none of my screens blew off. We also had Masterpiece install aluminum wrapping on our exterior window trim. The aluminum looks really good and hopefully will prevent the sills from rotting out, plus when I have the house painted again I won’t have to pay more for all the trim to be painted. I did have the house power washed before the window installation to remove all the mildew and dirt from the window sills. Before choosing Masterpiece we visited a house they had just completed and a house a competitor had just completed. The aluminum wrapping job by Masterpiece was superior to the other company. I think it’s important to go see the windows installed and look at the wrapping job before committing to buy windows. I am very pleased with my windows and am looking forward to sitting next to a window and not have cold air blowing on me!

The entire process was very smooth. I will admit I felt skeptical through most of the decision phase when looking at various companies. Rarely has a company impressed me from the beginning sales pitch through the final execution. Masterpiece did that! After the initial sales pitch I was skeptical that the company was as good as they said they were. Too many things seemed too good to be true so I researched them and couldn’t find a bad thing. The owner, George Sullivan, spent almost 3 hours with me which was longer than I planned, but gave me more comfort he was the real deal. He was overly passionate about his company, his work staff and the quality of the Simonton Windows. I asked as many tough questions that I could think of and got good honest answers for each. I took several more weeks after the first meeting to decide on a company, but chose Masterpiece in the end. The passion and honesty, the fair price, good research results, great windows and the recommendation (George provided me upon my request) of two home owners who used Masterpiece in previous years made my decision much easier.

It was several more weeks after signing the contract that we had the work done. The crew only does installs on the weekend which was different, but again made me feel more comfortable with them. I did not have to take off work to supervise the job which was nice. They arrived early on a Saturday and worked until 6pm. About 2/3’s of the job was done the first day. The crew leader, Avery, was everything George touted him to be. It was obvious his crew respected him and they made sure they all did excellent work. They were courteous and respectful of our home and the impact they had for the 2 day job. They actually seemed genuinely happy to be working which was good to see. They were quick and efficient and from what I watched they seemed to make sure the install was flawless. On Sunday they finished in about 5 hours. I was very impressed with their work. I did ask that they go back on some of the windows that I noticed had little holes in the caulking, but they willingly re-caulked any windows with this issue. My only suggestion to the owner was that I would have appreciated a final walk through with the crew leader to inspect each window and the door to make sure I was totally satisfied. I did this on my own and found everything acceptable.

Some things I was specifically impressed with was:

1. George’s way of expecting and providing perfectionism. George’s passion for the product.
2. Avery was an excellent crew leader who was engaged in the whole job. His crew was also great.
3. The quality of the product and the lifetime warranty.
4. The 5 year Masterpiece warranty on the workmanship.
5. The availability and quickness of install.
6. The price that I found fair for the quality of the product and after the job for the workmanship the crew provided.

We have been enjoying our windows for almost 2 months now. They are really great windows that we are taking full advantage of with the nice weather days. The ease of opening and cleaning these windows is wonderful. We also have noticed some difference in the noise reduction of the windows. We live near RDU airport and the planes fly over us. The noise reduction is nice and we hope to see some money savings in the efficiency of the windows soon. Many thanks to Masterpiece for a flawless process! As a homeowner who was spending a lot on this job I am grateful that there are companies out there who know how to treat their customers.

We met with about four window replacement companies and were impressed with George’s knowledge. The price was a little higher than everyone else but my husband had studied the Simonton window on the web and felt they were the best quality of all the windows we looked at. Once we signed the contract on October 11th, the windows were ordered on October 12th. The guys showed up on October 19th to deliver them and start prepping for their work. They arrived exactly at 8am as promised on October 20th. There were 5 men who each worked non stop. They were very respectful of our home, our dog and us coming and going. I never thought they would finish in 2 days but they were finished before 3pm on October 21st. Most of the other companies said it would be 4-6 weeks for the work to be done. They cleaned up everything inside and out. The only thing we had to do was put our blinds and curtains back up and they offered to do that for us. I didn’t even replace many of the blinds because the windows look so nice I didn’t want to cover them up. The first time I went to open the window to let the breeze in I almost cried. It as so easy compared to what I used to go through with my 32 year old wood windows. Thank you Masterpiece.

.I found Masterpiece on the web and triaged on Angie’s list. Set up an appointment with George who happily came by on Labor day to demo his Simonton windows. Great job – very enthusiastic, truly believes in his product. Knows his stuff. I ended up getting bids from 3 different Simonton installers (all the same products so I could compare properly). Masterpiece was in the middle, probably about 10% above the lowest bid. However, George’s enthusiasm, together with his his description of the installation process sealed the deal for me. Windows were ordered and installed by his regular crew (of top notch workers!) on a single Saturday. Fantastic job from A to Z. The crew is professional, detail oriented, friendly, efficient and did a great cleanup job to boot! George stopped by to check the work (and collect the rest of the money) that same Saturday.

Service went very well. Ordered windows and got them installed in about 5 weeks. 50% deposit and 50% upon completion. Job went very well, and new windows look amazing. We changed out from standard single hung in our sunroom to a large picture window on the back wall, and sliders on the side walls. They look absolutely amazing. George was a lot of fun to work with, and Avery his installer did a great job. Unfortunately, forgot to get before photos, but the after’s are fantastic. We will be using George and Avery to finish up the rest of our windows as we get the funds.

I had gotten several quotes, all within $500-600 of each other, so the choice came down to the knowledge of the salesperson. I had used one company in the past on another house, and even though they were going to give me a $2,000 discount for repeat business, I went with Masterpiece instead. The previous company came out, looked at the windows from the outside, made a couple of measurements then left. George from Masterpiece measured every window and noted the drastic drop of the window frame due to manual crank mechanisms. He had his installer, Avery, come out and look as well. I felt they both took the time to give an accurate scope of the work needed and the price reflected that. The windows came in about 4 weeks and Avery called to schedule the install. He was polite and on time. He did an AMAZING job of removing the old stuff and adding new trim and sills where needed. They cleaned everything up when they left, and they cleaned it well. I am super thankful I chose Masterpiece!! I am certain the other companies would have run into issues with those cranks without inspecting them first.

Overall, the whole process was a very smooth and we’re very pleased with the results. We had all the windows in our house replaced (qty 11) as well as our existing french door replaced w a sliding glassdoor. Our house was built in the early 80s and what was there was part of the original construction, so they were in need of replacing! We reached out to four different vendors and did quite a bit of research before we finally decided to go with Masterpiece Windows. George was great and came out to house and answered our many, many questions. He was very responsive and even worked w us over email, which helped me out a lot. There was plenty of communication through the whole process, even through installation. All of the new downstairs windows and the sliding door are shatter resistant glass, which is apparently an usual request, but Masterpiece handled it no problem. Their overall price was quite a bit cheaper than the other companies who gave us pricing; one company came out but never replied back w a quote and the other company couldn’t provide the shatter resistant glass. We scheduled the installation a few weeks in advance (mostly for our timing limitations) and Avery, the foreman, had come out prior to installation to walk the area and take final measurements for the window order. The install team arrived when they said they would on the installation day. They knocked out changing all 11 windows and the one door over a 2-day weekend; they ran a bit late on Sunday so the install ate into the clean up time and policing up little debris, but for as much as they got done and for the fact that it was dark during clean up, it was totally fine. The siding looks exactly like it did prior to installation, which is what we were concerned about! The windows have been installed for over a month and we haven’t had any issues – they look great, they move smoothly, and (most importantly) nothing is leaking! Right after the installation, there was a cold snap with the snow and the temps into the single digits and the windows have been impressive. Standing with my face literally an inch from the glass I couldn’t feel any cold until I actually touched the glass and there was no draft or temperature differential around the edges or anything. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn’t do anything differently. Thanks so much!

AMAAAAAAZING!!!!! Quotes for both windows and installation were done quickly. All work was done in less than 2 days – entire house including 2 big picture windows. Have wanted to do this for years, but didn’t think I could afford it – Masterpiece was not only top quality, but also affordable for a single retiree! Every detail was attended to and then some… I am simply over the moon with the new life that has been breathed into my dear old 1956 home. My face hurts from smiling!!!

Wow! George sells a great product and Avery and his crew installs them expertly! When we moved into our home 25 years ago, the replacement windows had already been done by another company. Over the years, the windows have lost their seals, panes have cracked and some of the windows no longer stayed up. It was past time to replace the replacements. We called three companies who offer replacement windows. George from Masterpiece Windows was the only one who brought visual aids! He is quite proud of the product he sells and they are great. The price was good and comparable to the estimates given by the other companies. Our windows arrived in good time and Avery and crew installed them quickly. One window arrived broken and was installed. A replacement sash was immediately ordered and will be here next week! The windows look great and they were wrapped beautifully! Much better than the original replacements! I love our new windows and the experience was great!

We are so happy with the outcome of our new windows and wrapped trim from Masterpiece Windows. We had used another company a few years ago for a handful of windows, and while we were pleased with the windows themselves, the installation was a nightmare. They were not level and had gaps and were not wrapped properly. They came back out and re-installed them to be more level, but it still was a very slapshod job. When we were finally ready to do the rest of the window replacement that our house badly needed I read many, many reviews and finally decided upon Masterpiece Windows and my only regret is we didn’t find them to begin with. George is excellent at getting you set up with what you want and need and showing you the quality of the windows they provide. They are one of the few companies that provide windows made in the USA and the quality of these windows is unbelievable. And amazingly, George can provide the high quality and keep the price comparable to what the mediocre, middle of the road companies charge. When it comes to the install, Avery and his team are fast, efficient and professional. My husband was in construction for about 10 years and is very, very picky when it comes to finish work. He was so impressed with the skill Avery used to bend the aluminum trim to wrap the windows, he just could not believe the speed and skill that Avery possesses. George, the sales representative for Simonton Windows, is very easy to work with. He is very responsive and knows what he is talking about when it comes to windows. I only had one bathroom window replaced but I cannot tell George treated me any different than his other customers who have 10+ windows replaced. There was a misunderstanding between installer and me in regard to the quote. George is willing to sacrifice his own profit to achieve customer satisfaction.

His installer team (Avery & et al) is very professional and did a very good job. My old window was a site-built window, which required extra effort to tear out and replace. But at the end of the day I am thrilled with shining new window! I really appreciate Avery took the time to clean my home or the job site very thoroughly!
